May Jesus, Christ, who is the way that leads to everlasting life, be with you!
Last week's readings offered a challenge to keep Jesus Christ first in our lives. We are to keep our eyes fixed on Him.
In last week's reading from Amos, the people were challenged to fight against materialism and the oppression of the poor. Today's readings once again challenge us not to be come complacent, especialy about our faith.
We must always give thanks to God for the many blessings we receive even in the midst of turmoil. We must remind ourselves that we are called to serve God and others, including those who are oppressed and those who experience injustice in their lives.
If we keep remembering where our blessings come from, then we will be more likely to remember that they have not been given to us just to help us become selfish, self-centered people. Our great prayer of thanks-giving each week, which we call the Mass or the Eucharist, helps us to keep remembering where all our blessings came from.
