May Jesus Christ, the Servant of God who came to bring us new life, be with you!

What a week our city endured: two major fires, a snow storm, and the remembrance of the earthquake that rocked the country of Haiti!

The school and apartment fires displaced people and the world was reminded of the devastation that happened in Haiti.  Every day we experience life issues, such as these events.  For some people, such an event is a life changing experience while for others, it may be something foreign to them.

Our readings for today's Mass remind us that whatever event we experience, Jesus is there to help us.  Not only does He make His presence known in world events, but He also works through people to bring hope, compassion and comfort.

Are we spectators who watch and listen to events, or are we people who make a difference in people's lives?  Jesus comes to us as God's Servant, to offer help.  May we follow Jesus and also respond to God's word with actions, seeing Jesus in everyone with whom we come in contact.
