May Jesus Christ, our true Shepherd, who leads us to eternal life, be with you!
Today, our parish has a two-fold celebration. One, we continue our celebration of the Easter season. We are reminded that Jesus Christ rose from the dead, defeating sin and death. He is the "Good Shepherd" who leads us, gives us new strength, and "guides us in the right path as he has promised." As the "Good Shepherd," Jesus is the way that leads to abundant and eternal life. We are challenged to remain close to Jesus as we all await the day when we will share together at the table of the Eucharist.
The second part of our celebration today is the reception of Hoy communion by several of our young people, for the first time. They join us at the table of the Eucharist receiving Jesus' body and blood. Receiving Jesus in Holy Communion, they become one with Jesus who makes His dwelling place within them. They become a walking tabernacle! May our First Communion Children remind us of the excitement, enthusiasm, and joy we experienced when we first received Holy Communion.
We congratulate our First Holy Communion children. We keep them in our prayers.
May Jesus Christ, the "Good Shepherd" always watch over us, protect us, hear our voice, and keep us on the right path!
