May Jesus Christ, who is attentive to the voice of our pleading, be with you!

If we listened to the media this week, our attention would have been on Washington, D.C. and how the legislators were debating on the "debt ceiling."  This debate caused much anxiety and tension for our country and for the world.

Perhaps our attention was focused on reports out of Kenya, Africa and the thousands of starving people leaving Somalia, including innocent children.

Maybe we were concerned about young teenagers attacking innocent people in our city in what authorities are calling "Flash Mobs."

Or maybe our attention was turned to personal issues.  Where will we find the money to pay for our uilities and rent or medicine?  Is our job secure, or is there any job opportunity available?

In times of difficulty we find it natural to turn to God, especially when we are beaten by the winds and the waves of life issues.  We might feel as if we are holding onto life by a thin thread.

Our readings today remind us that if we are caught in high winds and rough seas, Jesus will come to us to calm our fears and bring us peace.

In the hour of need, turn to Jesus and allow Him to make a way for you.  But you must do this with great faith.  Do you believe?
