May Jesus Christ, who brings justice and mercy to the world, be with you!
Today we end our Christmas season with the Feast of the Epiphany of the Lord. The Epiphany is described to us through the image of the three Kings, the Magi. Like the shepherds, the three Kings also saw the star in the sky. Unlilke the shepherds, the three Kings knew about the coming of someone who would be great, powerful, and uniguely special. They knew this child would make a difference in the world.
The Magi searched, following the star until they found him, Jesus the Christ, the Savior of the world. After their homage and gift-bearing, they returned to their native country to announce what they saw and experienced. Like the Magi, we too search for the One who makes us feel special. We might search for a peaceful spirit, a stronger faith, a deeper relationship with God, family, and friends.
Unlike the Kings led by the star, we are led by the Father and Jesus' gift to us: the Holy Spirit. We are led to Church to hear the Holy Word and to be nourished by Jesus' Body and Blood.
Like the Magi and the shepherds, we are to go forth and announce to others what we have experienced and heard about Jesus, the Christ and Savior of the World.
May we always be drawn to Jesus Christ who touches us in a special way. And may we go forth to proclaim Jesus in our speech and actions.
