Pastor's Message - June 6
Friday, June 04, 2010 01:53 PM

May Jesus Christ, the eternal high priest, pleading for us at the right hand of the Father, be with you!

Many of us can recall, as young people, how our parents always had enough food at dinner just in case guests, or our young friends, arrived at the door.  Our families might not have had much financially, but our parents made sure there was plenty of food for us and our guests.

This thoughtful action made an iindelible mark on us. Their foresight stayed with us into our adulthood.

Imagine those people present when Jesus made it possible for them to be fed..."and they had their fill"...! Imagine the thoughts of the disciples when they were able to obtain a few fish and bread, and see Jesus turn them into enough food for everyone!!

The thoughts of this gesture are presented to us once again as we celebrate the Feast of the Body and Blood of Jesus.  His generosity and self giving is a blessing to us, daily.  His outreach to others is done out of concern and love for humankind.  At times, what might seem impossible to do is made possible with faith, hope, and concern.

Presently, we live in a society where our generosity to others is important and needed.  Concern for the poor, justice for the oppressed, food for the hungry, prayer for those in need...can become a reality when we become what today's festival calls us to become: the very body of Christ sent forth to share generously, with others.

Every time we receive Jesus Christ in His Body and Blood, may it remind us how we should be generous to all, in our lives.

Peace

Msgr. Britto
